Father’s Day Note To All The Amazing Dads Out There

By: Amisha Shetty

Happy father’s day to all the fathers in the world. So, we have read countless articles on mother’s love. So I decided, since today is Father’s Day, to write about fathers and their immeasurable love and sacrifices. This article is dedicated to my father who is not with us today.

Pictures of my dad, wishing him a Happy father's day.

Let me tell you all about my dad; a brief description. He was a man who always encouraged his daughters to be independent and never be under anyone’s control. Never in his lifetime, he talked about our marriage because his only goal in life was to make my sister and me financially independent so that we live our lives on our own terms. He also replied firmly to people who asked “Oh, you got two daughters!”. We were never asked us to learn household chores. He never let the system of patriarchy enter our house. No gender roles, no questioning ambitions of a girl, no talks about marriage. He bought us everything we wanted without a single question. He was the kindest and sweetest soul ever ever. I can write a thousand words about him and it will still seem incomplete. And I am writing this with teary eyes and I know that if he’s watching, he won’t like it. I love you poppa and I miss you a lot.

I feel that father’s day is not given equal importance as much as mother’s day. Both play very important roles in our lives. So, if I ask you all why fathers are special, you will have your own answers. So today I am going to tell my opinions on these beautiful souls.

Fathers don’t express their struggles and pain.

You will always see a smile on their face even though they had a bad day. They try their best to provide you with the best life possible, even though they are struggling financially. They want us to get the best education, good food, good clothes and all that are needed to live a comfortable life. Working on sick days so that we can lead a healthy life. Whatever work they do, they do it for us. They earn for our sake. I can’t even imagine how many dads get sleepless nights thinking about their children and their needs.

They may act tough but always wish the best for you.

I don’t know about others, but my father was one of those who didn’t express his love openly. They won’t tell you how much you mean to them but show it through their actions. Have you ever told your dad that you like something, and the next day he gets it for you without fail? They protect you from all the evil eyes. They can’t take a word against their children. Also, they will prevent you from making mistakes so that we don’t get in trouble. Believe me, they pray for you secretly. They talk about you to their colleagues with pride. They won’t tell you all this and they won’t even tell you how much you mean to them. But their actions reveal it all.

I agree sometimes we won’t like our parent’s actions. But it’s not their fault too. That is how they were taught. But they are humans. Effective communication will make things better. You know ultimately when we are in trouble we go home to our family. That’s where the warmth lies. It’s like a happy world inside the outside world. Maybe I should stop here because if I continue, I will cry and as I told you before, he won’t like it.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY AGAIN…
