8 simple happiness hacks that work wonders

What is happiness? What is the exact definition? To be honest, there is no specific definition. Happiness can mean different things to different people. For one person, it can be getting their dream job. For another, it can be adopting a dog. And anyways is there any need for reasons to be happy? In the end, it all boils down to contentment in the soul. So, a disturbance free mind and a healthy body is a basic necessity.

But we all are humans. We undergo mood swings. Some days we just don’t want to work. Our mind is filled with jealousy, anger and hatred. Or somehow negative thoughts creep into our mind, which causes mental imbalance. Or some experiences lower our self-esteem. These are some of the major causes that kill happiness.

So over the years, I have discovered some hacks that helped me a lot to move ahead in life.

#1: Prioritize yourself

Many a time we place other people on the pedestal and shower them with all the love and affection. We forget to take care of our heart and mind. In the process of feeling loved by others, we lose our original selves and feel lost. Want to know more about prioritizing ourselves? Read here.

#2: Be kind to others

Kindness is something that defines who we are. When we treat others with kindness, it makes others and ourselves happy. It gives us the satisfaction of being there for other people. And universe gives back what we give. So if we show kindness, it will come back to us in some or the other form. Trust the universe.

#3: Be patient

We get frustrated when things don’t work according to our will. We all hope to see immediate results without realizing that good things take time. Patience is the key to reach our goals. By determination and patience, we can reach whatever goals we set.

#4: Take failures positively

There’s a saying ” Failures are stepping stones to success”. If you look back at the lives of successful people, you will find a number of chapters about their failures and how they transformed them into success. Failures can come in every aspect of life; career, academics, relationships. But what matters is our attitude towards it. We must never give up because law of attraction is real. When we set a goal and work towards it with dedication, success will automatically follow.

#5: Ignore negative comments

In this world of good people, there are some people here and there whose primary intention is to fill people’s minds with negativity. It comes as body shaming, discouraging, mocking, etc. Can we change the mindset of such people? I wish it was that easy. But what we can control is whether to let those opinions affect us. We must learn to avoid negative people and appreciate those who actually care for us.

#6: Learn new skills

Open your browser and search for the tutorials and courses on what interests you. It can be an origami tutorial, a programming language course or a painting class. This will help you relax your mind. It will open up your brain to new ideas and increases creativity skills. It’s completely ok even if you are not good at it. If it makes you happy, then why not?

#7: Get rid of jealousy

Jealousy is the biggest thief of happiness. It induces self doubt, inferiority complex and low self-esteem in a person. We are more prone to be jealous of another person’s looks, popularity, wealth and success. It is important for us to realize that we all are unique. We are running our own race. What’s good for someone may not be ideal for us. Instead, get rid of jealousy and start appreciating and clapping for others’ success. It makes us a better person, which will make us happy.
